The Independence Blue Cross Foundation’s (Foundation)  Someone You Know® campaign recently earned an Honorable Mention from PR Daily’s in its 2020 Corporate Social Responsibility Awards for the Public Health or Safety category. Someone You Know®, a public health awareness campaign which began in 2018, aims to raise awareness about the stigma of opioid addiction through sharing the stories of residents from the Philadelphia region who are in recovery, supporting someone in recovery, or who have lost a loved one to an opioid overdose.

Someone You Know® is part of the Foundation’s Supporting Treatment and Overdose Prevention (STOP) initiative. Through STOP, the Foundation has awarded more than $3 million dollars to regional partners to fight the opioid epidemic. The campaign also features a podcast that offers different perspectives on opioid use disorder and addressing stigma in the workplace, community and college campuses. Listen and subscribe anywhere podcasts are found.

PR Daily’s Corporate Social Responsibility Awards winners championed causes and initiatives that improved their communities, countries and the world. They told compelling stories that increased awareness and funding for these important causes. The Foundation was recognized for the Public Health or Safety category alongside Toyota, Discovery Education, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, and SCAN Health Plan.
