CATE (Community-Accessible Testing & Education), Pennsylvania’s first mobile COVID-19 testing and education unit, traveled to Pottstown Middle School to provide free vaccinations to individuals 12 years of age and older on October 28.  CATE was launched through a collaboration with the Independence Blue Cross Foundation (Foundation), Latino Connection, the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Montgomery County Office of Public Health. To date, CATE has vaccinated more than 9,000 individuals and provided over 5,200 COVID-19 tests.

The Foundation has served as a leader in promoting equitable access to COVID-19 vaccinations by working with regional nonprofits to reach neighbors in under-resourced communities. The Foundation awarded more than $1 million in charitable grants toward the effort so far this year, including a collaboration with the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation to immunize teachers and other personnel at all City schools.

Those interested in receiving a vaccination from CATE can learn more at CATEmobileunit.com or on Facebook at  facebook.com/CATEmobileunit.
