The Philadelphia Business Journal honored the Independence Blue Cross Foundation (Foundation) at its annual Faces of Philanthropy event on April 13 at Rivers Casino. Courtney Stefan, manager, Foundation Initiatives, accepted the award, which highlights philanthropic initiatives making a difference in lives across Greater Philadelphia.

The newspaper recognized the Foundation for leading the expansion of Collegiate Recovery Programs in collaboration with the Association of Recovery in Higher Education. With the Foundation’s support, Pennsylvania now leads the nation in the number of collegiate recovery programs, which provide students with greater access to treatment and recovery resources.

The award news coverage highlighted the national forum convened by the Foundation in Washington, D.C., that was attended by more than 60 people and 12 higher educational institutions across southeastern Pennsylvania. Elected officials who participated in the event includie U.S. Senator Bob Casey and U.S. Representatives Madeleine Dean (D-PA 4th District), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA 1st District), and Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA 5th District).
