As part of its community engagement to improve healthcare access, the IBX Foundation launched its first webinar series with Pennie, Pennsylvania’s official health insurance marketplace. Pennie is growing its network of nonprofit organizations that will help increase education about the benefits of health insurance and the financial savings available for coverage through Pennie.
More than 10 percent of local organizations invited by the IBX Foundation joined the sessions, held in April, to learn how to become ambassadors for health coverage in their communities. The opportunities include Regional Organizations, which will drive education and outreach in their region, and Partners who will distribute information and hold enrollment events. Pennie reported a 34 percent increase in nonprofit organizations showing interest in supporting Pennie since the series began.
“Nearly half a million Pennsylvanians are currently accessing affordable, high-quality health coverage through Pennie, but over 600,000 remain uninsured,” said Chachi Angelo, Director of External Affairs at Pennie. “The Independence Blue Cross Foundation’s support in promoting Pennie’s Partnership opportunities will help to maximize the number of Pennsylvanians with affordable, quality health coverage and facilitate informed consumer decision-making.”
Pennie plans to model the webinar series in other regions in the Commonwealth and is seeking host organizations to help promote this opportunity. Organizations interested in learning more about Pennie can visit pennie.com/partnerships.
