June 2022 –  This summer, children and their families can get vaccinated against COVID-19 at the Please Touch Museum through Ready. Set. School, a public awareness campaign supported by the Independence Blue Cross Foundation (Foundation), Independence Blue Cross, and Keystone First. The campaign offers families free admission to the museum on Community Days, which will take place during four Sundays this summer.

Ready. Set. School aims to prepare and protect children as they return to school this fall, pairing play and learning with equitable access to care. The program offers free COVID-19 vaccinations/boosters for eligible children and adults.

A health provider from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) will administer the vaccines and answer any health-related questions.  Community Days are as follows:

  • Eating for Energy: June 26, 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Healthy Smiles: July 17, 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Understanding Feelings: August 7, 11 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.
  • Bust A Move: August 28, 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Since the pandemic began, the Foundation has increased access to COVID-19 education, testing, and vaccinations. This includes support of Pennsylvania’s first mobile COVID-19 response unit known as CATE, Community-Accessible Testing & Education. The Foundation also supported the Philadelphia School District’s first Back-to-School Bus Tour and hosted a children’s vaccination event at the Philadelphia Zoo in partnership with CHOP.
