Independence Blue Cross Foundation President Honored by Three Organizations

Several local and national organizations recently honored Independence Blue Cross Foundation President Lorina Marshall-Blake for her dedication to communities in Southeastern Pennsylvania, tireless service, and thought leadership.

  • Philadelphia Tribune Magazine Most Influential Leaders in 2021. Marshall-Blake was honored on September 23 along with Independence CEO and President Gregory E. Deavens and other area leaders. For the second year in a row, this prestigious event was held virtually due to the pandemic.
  • Black Brain Campaign Lifetime Achievement Award. The Black Brain Campaign seeks to eradicate the stigma of mental health in the black community. Programming helps the community learn more about mental health and advocates through education, resources, and for overall mental health equality.
  • City & State and AARP Pennsylvania 50 over 50 Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is given to 10 of Pennsylvania’s most prominent leaders in government, business, media and more who have committed decades of their lives to making Pennsylvania a better place. Other awardees include Michael Smerconish, TV Personality and host of CNN’s Smerconish and The Michael Smerconish Program on SiriusXM Radio; Jeffrey Brown, Founder, President, & CEO; Brown Super Stores, Inc. and Sharmain Matlock-Turner, President & CEO; Urban Affairs Coalition.

 

Independence Blue Cross Foundation Team

The Independence Blue Cross Foundation is leading a future for equitable health in our communities and nation. The IBC Foundation’s grant programs and the Independence Blue Cross Foundation Institute for Health Equity are advancing three areas of impact: Access to Care, the Healthcare Workforce, and Health Equity. Since inception the IBC Foundation’s most important stakeholder – the community – has been at the center of the work. By the end of 2023, the IBC Foundation will have awarded grants totaling more than $80 million to support nonprofits and research improving the health and well-being of communities in southeastern Pennsylvania.
