“Never doubt your own role, and the power you have to make a difference.” Lorina Marshall-Blake serves as the keynote speaker for the Penn State Abington Commencement.

Lorina Marshall-Blake, president of the Independence Blue Cross Foundation (Foundation), served as the keynote speaker for the Penn State Abington Summer/Fall Commencement on Friday, December 14, 2018.

Since 2017, the Foundation has awarded Nurses for Tomorrow grants to Penn State Abington for undergraduate nursing scholarships. The Foundation also collaborates with Penn State on Share Your Opioid Story, an initiative empowering those impacted by the opioid epidemic through story telling.

“With the education you’ve received, you have the opportunity to lead ― but you also have the obligation to serve. Genuine leaders make things better for others, not just themselves,” said Marshall-Blake. In addition to servant leadership, Marshall-Blake also encouraged graduates to maximize their great Penn State Education through community and courage.
