Lorina Marshall-Blake, president of the Independence Blue Cross Foundation, spoke at three regional and state events in the first quarter of 2025, underscoring the Foundation’s commitment to positively impacting health.
At Harcum College’s annual Power of Possibilities Brunch, Marshall-Blake inspired attendees with stories of resilience and opportunity, celebrating the students and alumni who are making transformative strides in their communities. She emphasized the importance of education in unlocking potential and building healthier futures.
During the Latino Connections State of Latino Health event, Marshall-Blake addressed one of the most pressing challenges in healthcare today: workforce shortages, especially in nursing.
She spotlighted IBX Foundation’s programs, such as the Nurses for Tomorrow Scholarship Program, and the IBX Foundation Service Scholars Program, a regional effort to accelerate student veterans to become nurses. Since 2011, the Foundation has awarded nearly $23 million to advance the professional development, training, and education of nurses.
At the Aspiring Physician Executives (APEx) Evening with Physician Executives, Marshall-Blake delivered welcome remarks to aspiring physicians. APEx is a nonprofit organization that exposes medical students to careers beyond the bedside, offering access to influential physician leaders and unique opportunities for networking.
